Bali has everything, beaches!!

The 2nd day in Bali started a bit late.  We all were tired after last day’s continuous travel and after gaining losing 4 hours due to time zone difference we were deprived of sleep.  We woke up late around 10 and it was 11 when we had breakfast.

It was a great breakfast, especially bacon and egg, great start for the day for me apart from the coffee, which was literally the worst coffee ever.  Note to self, “Do not have coffee in Indonesia”.

We had woken up and now it was time to be awesome, we decided to look around for a mode of transport for our day’s excursion.  We found a small outlet in which a guy was selling tour packages, we decided to check the packages and booked a cab which will take us to the nearby attractions for 400,000 rupiah.  This was even cheaper than Hyderabad rates so we took it.

The first stop for us was the Padang Padang Beach.  One has to pay 10,000 rupiah for entrance and the entrance is a beautiful narrow staircase in between two huge rocks.

Once you cross the staircase you get to see the beauty of this beach, great panoramic view, white sand and great waves.  It is the waves that bring surfers from all across the world to Padang Padang.  We saw many surfers here and had many great photos clicked  here before dipping our feet into the ocean.

It is comparatively a small beach and does not have many facilities, so you should carry your own towels etc to sit/chill out at the beach as you cannot rent them at the beach.  we spent around 3 hours on the beach and then moved to our next stop, the Uluwatu Beach.

It was around 3 PM when we reached Uluwatu Beach and the sun was almost killing us.  To get to Uluwatu Beach, you have to go through narrow pathways which have various eateries on their sides and we stopped at one such eatery.  We had our lunch with the colorful view of the Ocean in front of us.

While returning from Uluwatu Beach, we came across this place which was selling a fruit bowl which was definitely new for me.  I didn’t like the bowl much but it was surely popular over there.  If you have eaten at this place, do let me know about how you liked the bowl there.

Next stop was the Uluwatu Temple.  The Uluwatu temple has a huge complex and one has to wear traditional cloth around the waist before they can enter the temple complexes.13528299_10204874177132822_3812987055626584447_o

The temple is dedicated to the Lord Rudra.  There are many old structures inside, however the best part of this temple as per me is the cliff-side sidewalk and the sunset.  The view from the sidewalk is awesome.  There was an opening in the safety enclosure and we did go beyond. 😀

The temple also has its fair share of monkeys who will take away your belongings under your nose.  People will warn you and you’ll think that if I’ll be careful, nothing will happen.  Trust me, it will happen, be extra careful.  For example, Guneet had bought new flip-flops which had a strap which looked like a ring of pomegranate.  She was posing for a picture and this monkey comes up, pulls her flip-flop from her leg and chews on it.  She did get back her flip-flop after a security personnel exchanged the flip-flop with a fruit and the monkey was happy for this barter.  This was fun 😀

The sun had started to go down now and everyone was ready to see the fire-dance and sunset. We got the tickets for fire-dance and took a seat from where we could see the beautiful sunset.  The fire dance depicted the story of “Sita-haran” and Hanuman going to find Sita in Lanka and burning down the Golden city of Lanka.  The interpretations of the Ramayana were a bit different as to what we are used to in India, but overall it was a good show.  Specially, Hanuman was entertaining.  I’ll suggest if you ever go there, do watch it, and watch it till end because the most fun part is towards the end.  And yes, the sunset

The sun was down and the day had ended but not the stories, many things happened after this which I’ll write about in the next blog.

Stay tuned, stay happy 🙂

P.S. If you liked this and would like to help me in funding my next trip, I would appreciate any voluntary donation.  Stay happy, stay blessed. 🙂
